Already licensed and want to complete the required training
so you can begin to supervise Residents yourself?

The Clinical Supervisor Toolkit: Clinical Supervisor Training

I offer a 20-hour CE Clinical Supervisor Training course for LPCs to become familiar with the purpose, theory and process of clinical supervision for counselors. You will review the currently accepted theoretical models for conducting supervision, the requirements posed by various licensing bodies, the skills and qualities of  supervisor and supervisee, which promote effective supervision, and the ethics associated with supervisory relationships.

Whether your interest is simply the expansion of knowledge of all things clinical or whether you are considering becoming a supervisor, this course will expand your understanding of supervision and its impacts.

The Clinical Supervisor Toolkit training covers the legal, ethical and clinical aspects of supervision, including requirements of supervision, this course also presents supervision as a dynamic process, engaging both supervisor and supervisee in interpersonal processes over a period of time and through certain developmental phases. You will learn to pay attention to boundaries, discover the impact of multiple loyalties, as well as the multiple relationships that are inherent in the supervision relationship.

Hello!

l'm thrilled that you've found this website and my information. I'd love to speak with you about your Residency goals, so be sure to contact me!
Here's just a little about my background:

After being a master's degree counselor for 5 years, I decided to return to my educational roots to earn a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision.  Little did I know how much I would LOVE being a clinical supervisor! So, in the process or learning more about counseling and therapy, I also learned how to be a supervisor. And then I became an even better therapist.

In 1998, I earned the Approved Clinical Supervisor certification from the National Board for Certified Counselors, then shortly after that, became a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia.

I view supervision as a collaborative process, so our supervisory relationship is as important to me as my professional relationship is with clients.

Since 1999, I’ve provided LPC supervision to a wide variety of mental health counselors and I’m still learning. Being a supervisor has made me more conscious of what I’m doing as a counselor. It’s stretched and challenged me and made me open to new ways of thinking and doing the work.

As an early adopter of mindfulness as well as Energy Psychology and complementary and integrative therapies, I developed a passion for learning about new theories and approaches that aren't typically covered in graduate programs.

Not only did I begin to integrate these approaches into my practice with clients, I created and taught (for 7 years) a graduate counseling course in these topics! And I love to teach my Residents about these VERY effective and cutting-edge strategies, too.

If you are ready to work with an experienced, supportive Residency supervisor, who takes an integrative approach to counseling, please contact me by phone or use the contact form on this website. We will talk about what you're looking for and figure out if we're a good fit for the process.

I look forward to speaking to you!
